September 9, 2000:
The Directorio marks its 10th anniversary with the “Conference for the Liberation of Cuba: Toward a Common Strategy.” Prominent figures and activists from the exile and international communities take part, seeking greater support for Cuba’s civic resistance premieres.

“Steps to Freedom,” a documentary produced by distinguished producers Eduardo Palmer and Salvador Blanco, is premiered, featuring unedited footage of civic resistance activities, dissident testimony, and the regime’s brutal repressive tactics.

May 2000:
The Mexican Solidarity Committee for Democracy in Cuba supports Cuban prisoner of conscience Dr. Oscar Elías Biscet with public demonstrations and the dissemination of literature detailing his plight and the conditions of life in today’s Cuba.

In Miami, the Directorio coordinates the “Freedom Walk,” a public demonstration exhorting the release of all Cuban political prisoners.

April 2000:
The Directorio's Report on Human Rights Violations in Cuba is published and presented to the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations in Geneva.
