El Salvador President: No Relations with Undemocratic Cuba
By EFE -

an Salvador (EFE).- Salvadorian president, Elías Antonio Saca, stated today that El Salvador will not maintain relations with Cuba as long as there is no democratic government in the island. This statement came as a response to a proposal to open a commercial office in that country.

After being consulted about a legislative motion for El Salvador to open an office of commercial interests in Cuba, Saca replied “I have no such intention.”

He added that “as head of the country’s foreign relations, as long as I am president, there will be no relations with Cuba until there is a democratic government.”

Last Tuesday, the National Conciliation Party had presented an initiative before the Foreign Relations Commission of the Legislative Assembly recommending the establishment of the office.
