Miami, October 1, 2007. Street protests, marches on the streets, non-cooperation stickers in public places in the City of Havana, and other prominent cities in the country, and the increasing number of fast centers, are just a few of the activities promoted in past weeks by the internal opposition in Cuba. Now, opposition leaders from various regions of the island have come together to make a unprecedented call: to say NO to the electoral farse. This initiative is based on:

·         Saying NO to the false elections organized for October 28th by the dictatorial regime

·         Not cooperating with lies and the electoral farse by participating at the fasting centers open in various zones of Cuba.

Cuban exile organizations that have come together within the non cooperation campaign support this call made by the internal civil resistance to the Cuban people to morally reject the electoral farse organized by the Castro dictatorship. To make public this call from Cuba, the organizations met today at the Intercontinental West Miami Hotel at 11 a.m. to hold a press conference in which they spoke about this new phase within the non cooperation campaign.

“We ask all Cubans in exile to communicate to their families in Cuba this slogan of the civic resistance to MORALLY REJECT THE ELECTORAL FARSE,” expressed Janisset Rivero, from the Cuban Democratic Directorate.

The non cooperation campaign began as an initiative from Cuban political prisoners and human rights activists, who, since 2005 ask the Cuban people to not cooperate with the demands of a totalitarian regime.
