By Cuban Democratic Directorate

Cuba. March 19, 2008. Cuban Democratic Directorate. In the past few weeks, antigovernment signs have appeared in different Cuban regions, among these, in the City of Palma Soriano in Santiago de Cuba and in the municipality of Aguada de Pasajeros, in Cienfuegos.

According to information provided by Idania Yanes Contreras of Agencia Villa Clara Press to the Cuban Democratic Directorate, human rights activist Bernardo Rogelio Arévalo Padrón reported that stickers inscribed with “I do not cooperate with the dictatorship” and “Get ready, over a million of us are saying NO” appeared last week in Aguada de Pasajeros.

The signs were pasted on the door of the Municipal Court, in the telephone booth on Maceo street, on the benches in the Municipal Park located on Paseo Valentín Menéndez, and on the walls of Alipio León hospital located on Francisco Aguilera street in this municipality.

According to Arévalo Padrón, authorities, including members of the Technical Investigation Department have not succeeded in finding the perpetrators, despite interrogations to workers at said hospital.

Likewise, it has been reported that over 80 antigovernment signs have appeared in the City of Palma Soriano in the past two months. This has caused a police deployment in the city. According to information provided by Virgilio Delat to Encuentro en la Red, the signs contained phrases such as “Down with Fidel”, “Democracy”, and “Freedom for the 75”.
