Lima, Peru. May 19, 2008. Information and Support Center. More than 1,500 young Peruvians came together in the Pueblo Libre district in Lima, Peru to call for freedom for Cuba’s political prisoners and for free multi-party elections in the island nation. The Peruvian musical group “Babalu” performed at the well-attended gathering, which featured videos of the Ladies in White, the family members of political prisoners, and about the life of Cuban student martyr Pedro Luis Boitel who died on a hunger strike while a political prisoner under the Castro regime in 1972.
