Former political prisoner Librado Linares Garcia, one of the arrested activist in Santa Clara

Santa Clara. May 26, 2011. Cuban Democratic Directorate. Sixteen activists of the Central Opposition Coalition gathered in the city of Santa Clara, at the home of the president of that organization Idania Yánes Contreras to coordinate a march to political police headquarters in this city where they would inquire about the whereabouts of Yanes Contreras, her husband Alcides Rivera Rodríguez and the leader of the Rosa Parks Feminist Movement, Yris Tamara Pérez Aguilera. The information was given by former prisoner of conscience Librado Linares García. "We are going to march to State Security to request the release of Idania, Alcides, Jorge Luis (Antúnez) and Yris. This house is surrounded by members of State Security, "said Linares García by telephone to the Cuban Democratic Directorate. Minutes after this communication the protagonists of the march were arrested on “Prolongación de Marta Abreu” Street a few meters from the home of Idania Yánes Contreras. "At the intersection of the Central Highway and “Prolongación de Marta Abreu” Street the activists were arrested by special brigade troops with cars numbered 404, 400, and patrol cars numbered PNR 253 and 263. The march was led by Librado Linares who was the one designated to speak to the State Security agents and exert pressure. Víctor Castillo Ortega, José Lino Ascencio López, Mayda Conlledo García, Yanisbel Valido Pérez, Alberto Reyes Morales, Michel Oliva López, Félix Reyes Gutiérrez, Guillermo Fariñas Hernández, Librado Linares García, Guillermo Del Sol Pérez, Ana Alfonso Arteaga and Chichi Bernal Serpa where arrested,” said Idalberto González Gómez, from the headquarters of the Central Opposition Coalition in Santa Clara. A similar group of activists have gathered in the city of Placetas, at the home of Antúnez, and have called for a national sit-in demanding the release of the activists arrested during a public protest on May 25, 2011 in the city of Placetas. And in Palma Soriano, former prisoner of conscience Raumel Vinajera Estive began a hunger strike demanding the release of the detainees in Placetas. The Cuban Democratic Directorate alerts the international community about these developments and demands that authorities of the Havana regime provide information on the status of Yris Tamara Pérez Aguilera. ###
