Why does no one speak the truth of the Cuban Revolution?
By José Luis Guerrero

There is a tendency towards lies, deception, and envy in many individuals and groups; and in the modern world, the attempt to diminish the participation and contributions of other people, in any particular cause, is our daily bread.

The damage is doubled when the aforementioned is fulfilled with the intention to perpetuate oneself in political power, tyrannizing men and women who have sacrificed their belongings, their families, and have even risked their own lives.

In the so-called Cuban revolutionary process, the regime has gone even as far as physically disappearing the heroes of its own revolution, as in the case of the 20 year prison sentence of former Major Húber Matos Benítez or the 30 year prison sentence of Mario Chanes de Armas, who had stood alongside Castro since the attack to the Moncada Barracks. We can also mention the executions of Major Arnaldo Ochoa and Tony de la Guardia whose case is still not fully understood, among other incidents.

As it turns out, one of those men who fought for what they believed to be a just cause, and who was contributing to the process of democratization of his homeland is former Major Húber Matos Benítez, who decided to separate from the government, having disagreed with the communist ideology to which the Castros were leading the Cuban people. That is a sin for which the Castros have never forgiven him.

Currently, Major Húber Matos Benítez has taken on a campaign for the freedom of a young black man named Jorge Luis García Pérez”Antunez”, one of the hundreds of Cuban political prisoners. This campaign has not been well received by Cuba’s dictator, who has sent one of his apologists to defend his system with a suitcase full of lies elaborated by the dictator himself. Castro’s regime understands that this crusade is ruining the publicity campaign that they carry out in the Dominican Republic with the objective of fooling the naïve who still believe in the utopian Caribbean revolution.

It is worth noting that García Pérez “Antúnez” has been sentenced to 18 years of prison, 15 of which he has already served. This freedom fighter’s only crime has been his desire to live in a free and democratic homeland, as well as for respect for the fundamental rights of man, according to the terms established in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We call on the free world, the defenders of human rights, and all people of good will, to join us in the fight for the democratization of the Cuban people that have suffered 46 years of totalitarian dictatorship, and we make a special call for amnesty for all the political prisoners in the neighboring nation of Martí, Gómez, and Maceo.
