Havana, Cuba. February 12 (Tania Maceda Guerra / www.cubanet.org) – La Habana- Prisoner of consciente Blas Giraldo Reyes Rodríguez reported on the critical prison conditions taking place in the Nieves Morejón Prison, located in the province of Sancti Spíritus. Reyes Rodríguez, expressed the following vía telephone to the Human Rights Council of Rapporteurs of Cuba:

“The detachment in which I am staying has 92 beds and 107 prisoners. Of course, 15 of them sleep on the floor. The detachment is 28.12 meters in length and 6.24 meters wide. The area of the bathroom is 5.35 m x 6.24 m, and there are 3 tubes to defecate and 2 to shower with. There is a urinal with a faucet and a sink, also with a faucet. I would like Carlos Lage and Silvio Rodríguez to know this, since they are spreading the word around that there exist good living conditions for Cuban prisoners, so that they may know that we do not need songs, we need acceptable living arrangements, since we are know in inhumane conditions.”

Blas Giraldo Reyes Rodríguez is a member of the Group known as “The 75”, sentenced to 25 years of unjust imprisonment.
