By Yesmi Elena Mena Zurbano

Caibarién. February 9, 2009. Yesmi Elena Mena Zurbano, Villa Clara Press Agency. Members of a newly created independent organization called “Resistance” distributed copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to the population of Caibarién on Monday in order to raise awareness among the people of their fundamental rights.

This civic action took place on Monday morning in several neighborhoods in the municipality, and the document was well received by people who in turn expressed this sentiment respectfully to those who had given them a copy.

“The members of this opposition group will carry out this kind of activity very frequently, because its principal objective is to work directly with the Cuban people so that they may know what their rights are and begin to struggle peacefully for them,” stated Carlos Michael Morales Rodríguez, president of “Resistance,” to this reporter.
