December 1995:
In Nicaragüa, members of the Directorio host a conference on the current circumstances faced by the Cuban people in conjunction with the organization “FUNDEMOS.”

November 1995:
The Directorio signs a letter of support as part of its Concilio Cubano campaign.

The Directorio introduces the weekly “Youth Parliament” segment on WQBA Radio 1140 AM’s “On the Table” program.

In Santiago de Chile, the country’s capital, the Chilean Committee of Solidarity with Democracy in Cuba is founded.

The Directorio campaigns on behalf of Omar del Pozo, Ileana Curra Luzon, Carmen Julia Arias Iglesias, Pablo Reyes, Sebastian Arcos Bergnes, Yndamiro Restano, and Luis Felipe Lorena, political prisoners, presenting their cases to international human rights organizations, and writing the prisons where they are held.

The Directorio presents “Toward the Great Nation” (Hacia la Gran Nacion), by Orlando Gutierrez.

August 1995:
The Directorio organizes the third national council: Together for Democracy in Cuba, with delegates from Latin America and Europe participating.

 

 

 

 

 

 

July and September 1995:
The Directorio participates in flotillas commemorating the victims of the “13 de Marzo” massacre, and calling for freedom and democracy in Cuba.

April 1995:
The Transnational Radical Party, made up of European members of parliament affiliated to various international human rights causes and drawing their name from a commitment to get to the roots of the issues, hosts the Directorio at its International Congress as a special guest.

 

 

 

April 15, 1995:
In an unprecedented act of civic resistance, members of the Directorio and members of the Cuban Legal Alliance fly to Havana, in Brothers to the Rescue airplanes to provide legal representation for Francisco Chaviano González, tried for political crimes. The flight is denied entrance into Havana by the Cuban Government.

February 1995:
Members of the Directorio take part in the national meeting of Young Action (Acción Juvenil), the youth branch of Mexico’s National Action Party (Partido Acción Nacional de Mexico).

 

 

 

January 1995:
The Directorio launches a campaign to support the Cuban Council (Concilio Cubano), a summit of Cuban internal opposition groups for the purpose of establishing an umbrella organization. This meeting, scheduled for February 24, 1996, the day of the Brothers to the Rescue shootdown, does not take place due to the government’s repression.
