Havana, November 11, 2007. Peaceful opposition activists and members of civil society organizations cross their arms over their chests in a gesture of non-cooperation with the Cuban dictatorship in weekly processions to a local Church for Sunday Mass in Havana.

On Sunday, November 11, members of the Frank País 30th of November Democratic organized a procession in the Los Pinos area of the Arroyo Naranjo municipality in Havana and marched to Sacred Heart Church, located between Belascoaín and Reina streets. About 30 people took part in the procession and attended the Mass.

“We have received the support of the entire Cuban people, who applaud us and greet us each time we hold these marches, stated activist Julio César López Rodríguez, National Coordinator of the Frank País 30th of November Democratic Party.

Another procession was held on the same day in the Habana Vieja municipality, where participants marched to Jesús del Monte Church on 10 de Octubre street.  This new weekly religious and civic resistance activity was also organized by the Frank País 30th of November Democratic Party in hopes that it Hill be adopted by other opposition organizations and carried out as a protest in other parts of Cuba.

“We wish to inform the Cuban people about these peaceful marches so that they may support them. They are civil disobedience actions where we demand the liberation of all Cuban political prisoners and we say NO to the Castro brothers’ dictatorship,” explained López Rodríguez. “We will continue this work every Sunday until the persecution and harrassment of all Cuban peaceful opposition activists end and the liberation of all Cuban political prisoners is achieved.”
