Change, yes!

A sign of large dimensions and vibrant colors appeared on the morning of May 1st in front of the home of Edgard López Moreno, headquarters of the Marti Youth Coalition (Coalición Juvenil Martiana), an opposition organization in Cuba. The sign had the phrase: “Change, yes! Toward a new superior phase in socialism. Down with imperialist propaganda.”

Lopez Moreno declared: “It seems that this euphoric and revolutionary slogan is a response to the small sticker I placed on the door of my house that is part of the “CHANGE” campaign, which members of our organization support and promote. I firmly believe in freedom of expression, a belief that the authors of this sign do not share.”

The young members of the Marti Youth Coalition promote change through cultural and athletic activities. The group is active in Havana and Santa Clara, among other cities.

“We affirm CHANGE as a real solution for Cuba and we invite everyone to join, not for a party or a slogan that we are used to hearing, but to a profound new consciousness necessary to solve what has destroyed true socialism during the last few decades,” affirmed López Moreno.
