By Cuban Democratic Directorate

Havana, June 18, 2007. On the morning of Tuesday, June 12th, various signs inviting citizens not to cooperate with the regime appeared in San José de Las Lajas and Santiago de Las Vegas, Havana. According to Luís González Medina, coordinator for the Pro-Human Rights Party Affiliated to the Andrei Sakharov Foundation, the signs that appeared in San José de Las Lajas read: “Down with Fidel Castro”, “Change”, and “I Do Not Cooperate with the Dictatorship”. These were hung at the office of the electric company. González Medina went on to state that this provoked an intense police mobilization. State Security Officer Evelio Monte ordered a worker at the Bakery to remove the signs.

At Santiago de Las Vegas, signs reading “Change” and “I Do Not Cooperate with the Dictatorship” appeared early Tuesday Morning on walls of the city’s bus terminal. As said by Mario Hechavarría Driggs, who reported this news to Payo Libre, the bus terminal was surrounded by police officials who, upon seeing the arrival of passengers and curious people, began to tear down the “undesirable signs”.
