Antúnez Renews Call to Campaign “Dignified and Decent Housing for Every Cuban”
By Cuban Democratic Directorate

Placetas, Cuba. 10 April 2008. Cuban Democratic Directorate. Human rights activist and former political prisoner Jorge Luis García Pérez “Antúnez” renewed his call to the campaign for “Dignified and Decorous Housing for Every Cuban” on a Radio Republica broadcast. The campaign was launched in March of this year and demands a solution to the serious housing crisis in Cuba from the Castro authorities.

Activist Antúnez stated that as part of the campaign, “visits will begin to different areas of the Island’s central region where there are unsanitary neighborhoods, where hundreds and thousands of Cuban families agonize, abandoned and neglected.”

The “Dignified and Decent Housing for Every Cuban” campaign also raises awareness about the hygienic and sanitary situation of the Cuban people, as well as the generational problem created by the lack of housing. In some cases, two, three, and even four generations live together in the same place.

The national headquarters of this campaign, led by the Pedro Luis Boitel Political Prisoners Movement and other opposition organizations in Cuba, is located at Calle 7ma. del Sur, No. 5, between Paseo Martí and 1ra. del Este, in the city of Placetas, Villa Clara.
