To the International Community: The Cuban Regime Must Accept Humanitarian Aid
By Directorio, M.A.R, y Plantados

Miami. September 9, 2008. We, the undersigned non-governmental Cuban exile organizations, urgently call upon governments, international organizations like the UN, the Red Cross, the European Union and the Organization of American States, among others, as well as human rights organizations to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people by demanding that the Havana regime permit the entry of massive humanitarian aid to offer immediate and direct relief to the victims of hurricanes Gustav and Ike, that have left profound devastation in their wakes.

As part of an exile community that supports our brothers and sisters in the island, we reiterate our desire to help them at this time when the Cuban nation faces a tragedy of such great magnitude.

It is imperative that the same international pressure applied to the ruling military in Burma earlier this year be used so that all the available and necessary aid may be allowed to reach Cuba. The magnitude of the tragedy that has devastated Cuba requires the help from the greatest number of institutions and countries capable of delivering massive aid in the fastest and most effective manner.

Our priority is that the greatest amount of aid be delivered directly to the victims.

The Cuban people deserve the greatest possible solidarity.
