Assembly of the Resistance Facts
By Assembly of the Resistance

As the Castro Regime conducts purges, opponents inside and outside the island move to consolidate resistance

International political leaders from Central Europe, Latin America and Africa will attend in support of the founding of the Assembly of the Resistance

What: The Assembly of the Resistance, the largest gathering ever of Cuban exile and Cuban American organizations in support of Cuban resistance efforts. Over 50 Cuban freedom organizations will unite in order to implement a new stage of the Non Cooperation Campaign that has been gaining momentum inside Cuba as well as internationally.

When: 6:30 pm, Wednesday, March 18th, 2009, Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Avenue, Coral Gables, Florida.

Why: Civic defiance of the Castro regime has been increasing inside the island, particularly among Cuban youth. The Cuban dictatorship itself has admitted that over 1.5 million Cubans boycotted the Regime’s sham one-candidate, one-party elections in 2007. This is unprecedented, given that obligatory citizen participation in these elections is rigidly enforced by government organizations and is clear evidence of the growing movement of citizen non cooperation with Regime mandates.

Who: The Non Cooperation campaign began spontaneously in Cuba in 2006 when neighbors stopped collaborating with the synchronized mob attacks “actos de repudio” organized by the Regime against dissidents and members of the political opposition. The Castro Regime itself has complained about what it calls “indisciplina laboral” or rampant non cooperation by Cuban workers with the government-controlled labor unions, with government-mandated production quotas, and with the activities of the Communist Party.
