Cuban Venezuelan Democracy Front:

Leaders from both countries promise to support civic resistance against the Castro-Chavez Axis

Miami. February 2, 2010. Assembly of the Resistance. Cuban and Venezuelan pro democracy leaders joined forces from a place in Latin America to create a common front against the Castro-Chavez axis to promote freedom and better support the civic resistance movement in both Latin American countries, currently under communist dictatorships.

The agreement, which was the founding of the Cuban Venezuelan Democracy Front, is a response to the urgent call to support pro democracy leaders in both countries against the brutal repression they currently face.

This historic agreement reflects the conviction of the leaders and the resistance they represent before the Castro and Chavez dictatorships, noting they are one Regime that has put communist ideals before national interests.

At this important encounter, Orlando Gutiérrez-Boronat, of the Assembly of the Resistance's secretariat stated: “Before the Castro-Chavez Anschluss , unity for life and freedom for all Cuban and Venezuelan patriots”, in reference to the historic forced integration of Germany and Austria by Adolf Hitler's Nazi dictatorship.

“The Organization of American States (OAS) -if it has any dignity left- and the international community, must forcefully denounce the murders and violations of the Venezuelan youth, and human rights violations in Cuba by these Regimes”, stated Sylvia Iriondo, also from the Assembly of the Resistance's secretariat.

“The only road to liberty for Cuba and Venezuela is through resistance and the uprising of civilians”, said Carlos Ortega, main leader of the Venezuelan Workers Group.

Upon finalizing the meeting, Venezuelan exile Oscar Pérez noted: “The unity of the people is necessary in order to stop the advancement of the totalitarian expansionist project that currently threatens peace and stability in our region.”

COMUNICADO CONJUNTO ANTE LA OPINION PÚBLICA INTERNACIONAL

Nosotros, los abajo firmantes, luchadores por la democracia en Cuba y Venezuela, inspirados por el ideario de Simón Bolívar y José Martí, acordamos conformar una alianza de compromiso y apoyo a la heroica Resistencia ciudadana contra los regímenes totalitarios de autócratas que imperan en nuestros respectivos países.

Considerando:

Que es deber consecuente de los cubanos y venezolanos, donde quiera que se encuentren, participar y respaldar a la Resistencia cívica que en ambos países luchan por la democracia;

Que la soberanía radica en los pueblos y que el gobierno se debe al mandato de la sociedad:

Por tanto:

Exigimos la inmediata libertad de los hombres y mujeres encarcelados en Cuba y Venezuela por defender los derechos del pueblo;

Denunciamos ante la opinión pública internacional la expansión del eje totalitario castro-chavista que atenta contra la paz, la seguridad y la estabilidad de nuestro hemisferio;

Instamos a las naciones e instituciones democráticas de nuestra región a respaldar los esfuerzos por el cambio de nuestros países;

Exhortamos a la Organización de Estados Americanos a hacer valer el mandato de la Carta Democrática en defensa de las libertades públicas en toda nuestra región y a no prestarse para los designios anti democráticos del eje totalitario;

Y anunciamos:

La formación de un Frente Cubano Venezolano por la Democracia, en aras del predominio del bien común en nuestra América y en promoción de la resistencia cívica nacional contra la ocupación totalitaria de nuestras patrias latinoamericanas.
