Directorio to Publish Real-Time Updates from Cuba on Twitter During Week Marking Anniversaries
By Directorio Democrático Cubano

Miami. February 21, 2011. Cuban Democratic Directorate. The Cuban Democratic Directorate (Directorio) invites all news media to keep up with the latest events in Cuba through its Twitter account, @DirectorioCuba (http://twitter.com/directoriocuba).

Directorio will be sharing reports directly from Cuba on Twitter as they are confirmed. This week includes two significant anniversaries for the freedom struggle on the Island. February 23rd marks one year since the death of murdered prisoner of conscience Orlando Zapata Tamayo. February 24th is the 15th anniversary of the murders of Cuban-American pilots Armando Alejandre, Carlos Costa, Mario Manuel de la Peña, and Pablo Morales, who were shot down by Cuban regime MiG fighters in international airspace. They were flying with Brothers to the Rescue, a humanitarian organization that helped facilitate the rescue of Cuban refugees who fled the island on rafts during the 1990s.

Through Twitter, Directorio will be able to share its work of closely monitoring civic resistance activity and human rights violations in Cuba with a global audience during this important time.

Throughout its 20 years of working for a nonviolent transition to democracy in Cuba, Directorio has developed close links with the Resistance on the Island. Because of this, Directorio is not only one of the best sources of information on nonviolent civic actions in Cuba, but enjoys a unique capacity to keep international media and friends of freedom informed on a real-time basis.

Follow Directorio on Twitter, @DirectorioCuba (http://twitter.com/directoriocuba).
