Center of Information will be reporting the repression in Cuba during the visit of Pope Benedict XVI
By Assembly of the Resistance

MIAMI, March 26, 2012. ASSEMBLY OF THE CUBAN RESISTANCE. The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC), a coalition of organizations within Cuba and in exile opposed to Castro’s regime, officially opened an Information and Support Center to monitor the repression in Cuba, which will be relaying information during the visit of His Holiness Benedict XVI to the Island of Cuba. “We hope that the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Cuba will contribute to the reinstatement of all liberties and rights to the Cuban people. The repression that the regime has imposed against the people in Cuba constitutes itself an insult to the spirit of the visit of His Holiness”, said Sylvia Iriondo, President of Mother and Women against Repression (MAR por Cuba) and member of the Secretariat of the ACR during a press conference informing on the five-point statement publicly made. During the press conference a tape was played with a message by Berta Soler Fernandez, the leader of the Ladies in White who from Havana informed about the many women arrested to impede their assisting to Mass in Santiago de Cuba. She also informed of the brutal repression in Santiago de Cuba as well as in Havana. Also shown, a short documentary produced by Emilio Estefan demonstrating the reality in Cuba, which ARC will be distributing internationally and in the United States.
