Representatives of the Directorio, the Christian Democratic Party of Cuba and the Christian Liberation Movement were on hand in a show of support to Perez-Vivas and the Venezuelan opposition. As a congressional representative in Venezuela’s National Assembly, Cesar Perez-Vivas is one of the foremost opposition leaders to Chavez and has been a legislator for the state of Tachira, a border state with Colombia, since 1989. He is an expert in environmental issues, having served as president of the Environmental Commission for several years, and is one of the most promising political leaders of Latin America under 50.
