Placetas,Villa Clara. The human rights activist, Bertha Antúnez Pernet, responded with a speech and music by Willy Chirino to a repressive act carried out by more than 300 people in front of her house. The act was realized 2with MOBS organized by State Security to impede the fulfillment of a vigil for liberty without forced exile for Cuban political prisoners.

“At approximately a quarter to nine at night a mob of about 300 people showed up, which had been brought from the town of Baez. Those people arrived at the front of my house singing the national anthem. I allowed them to sing the anthem, as is logical, and I also allowed them to speak because as they spoke I recorded all of the insults they shouted so that the world can hear them, so others can see how they were offending me. They continued to speak as long as I permitted, because when I decided to, I turned on my amplification system and sent out a message to those who call themselves the “community.” I followed it with more songs by Willy Chirino, whom we want to thank, as he is well loved and a patriot, and for helping us combat the mob. With his music we were able to confront the mob, which in the end, began to dance because undeniably, he is a great artist,” explained Antunez from Placetas via telephone to the Cuban Democratic Directorate.

According to the information narrated by the activist, the organizers of the mob remained speechless before her message and the music and had to withdraw the people from the street. Meanwhile, Bertha Antunez said that her neighbors, along with the Committee for Defense of the Revolution on her block all refused to participate in the repressive act, and many of them demonstrated their solidarity with her and her family.
