INDEPENDENT LIBRARY IN GUANTANAMO INAUGURATED
By Cuban Democratic Directorate

"Yesterday, November 30th, the Cuban Youth Movement for Democracy inaugurated the Jose Antonio Echeverría library here in the city of Guantánamo at Emilio Girón street, #502 between Luz Caballero and Máximo Gómez.  The library was inaugurated yesterday, on a significant day, November 30th, and with it we pay tribute to the name of Jose Antonio Echeverría since he was one of the great fighters of our country and thus we honor him.  It is located in the center of the city of Guantánamo so that all the people who wish, above all the young, whose interests have arisen via several writings, that is to say that they have a limited knowledge of the culture and they need these resources.”

“I, Herminia Ramirez Jiménez, am in charge of the library of Cuban Youth Movement for Democracy, and we will take this project as far as it is necessary to be able to bring love and education to the youth and all the people who wish to visit. The doors of my house are open for this just and necessary activity here in this province where many young people find themselves marginalized and trapped by the imposed communist policy since the day they were born."

"All the young people of this country were born under Communism and it is the only thing they have been able to see.  I invite them to visit."
