Third anniversary commemorations of the Cuban Spring
By Cuban Democratic Directorate

This year marks the third anniversary of the repressive wave detonated by the Cuban regime in Havana in March 2003, when 75 civil right activists were arrested, judged, and condemned to up to 28 years in prison for expressing their ideas and fighting for democracy in Cuba. Among the activists were journalists, librarians, union members, poets, and intellectuals.

To commemorate Cuba’s “Black Spring” and denounce the human rights violations on the island, manifestations will take place in various parts of the world, including Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Chile, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Spain. The activities will take place in public locations to distribute information about what happened on March 18th, 2003 and raise awareness about the reality in Cuba.
