Beatriz Roque suffers a violent beating in public at the hands of fascist members of the rapid response brigades

April 25th 2006, (La Nueva Cuba) – Reports from Havana broadcasted through Miami radio station, Radio Mambí, and during a live transmission with Martha Beatriz Roque Cabello herself, on the Mesa Redonda program hosted by Armando Pérez Roura, the leader of the National Assembly to Promote Civil Society in Cuba denounced that she had just been a victim of aggression today.

With a quivering voice, stuttering from indignation and rage, an emotional Roque Cabello told how she was assaulted as she came out of her house by a mob of members of the regime’s Fascist Rapid Response Brigades, made up of retired and undercover members of the political police, who under the protection of authorities, began to attack her, finally launching her onto the pavement and between insults and beatings, they dragged her through the street.

During the aggression, Martha Beatriz denounced how her eyes were hit repeatedly; to the point where she feared she would lose her vision. They also hit her face, chest and back mercilessly, and without the intervention of police who were in the area.

Martha Beatriz’ telephone testimony was brief, consisting of two to three minutes due to her fragile state. Martha Beatriz urgently called all defenders of freedom throughout the world to somehow detain the aggression provoked by the regime with the objective of inciting violence as an environment favorable to doing away with every trace of peaceful opposition.

Martha Beatriz called on Cubans to denounce the brutally repressive and violent conditions that increase everyday on the island on the part of the regime.
